Seriously …. I wouldn't hate them then.
A actual good looking family car with great mileage, whats not to love? Really I just want French cars back in the U.S. and this was an excuse to say that. Also about to embark on a 7 hour drive to see the rest of the family, so yay!

Well there'd be a few issues...
-It costs roughly 50% more than a Prius (42 000€ vs. 28 000). So this would probably cost roughly 35 000$ on US soil
-All electric real-life range is limited to 1-1.5 miles
-The gearbox is a 10 years all single clutch automated setup
-It's not very quick for 200hp (0-62 is about 8.6s)
-This is actually smaller on the inside than a Prius
On the other hand, we do get this on our side of the pond:
This is the Auris Hybrid Touring Sports. It's cheaper than a Prius, has the same powertrain, gets up to 60mpg, and it's a wagon!

His 7 hour drive? Why not? Do you know something he does not? Are you final destination-ing him?

The DS5 is a much nicer car than the Prius though. The hybrid diesel drive train is, I'm told, not that great. You'd be better off with a normal gasoline or diesel DS5. They're much cheaper than the hybrid, about as expensive as a Prius but much nicer. And larger on the outside, the wheelbase is about +1%.
The Auris wagon is probably the nicest car with a Prius drive train you can buy. Still, economy aside it's no comparison against the DS5.

I know you're probably right … but that won't stop me from liking them.

But from my understanding a lot of prius drivers are better off than their car lets on. Its more of a symbol than a eco buy ….. which has got to playing into why Tesla is doing so well.

Way more zing there than a Prius driver can handle.
